A 110-year-old enjoyed a birthday bash with 115 of her descendants who came from over the globe to Vietnam to give her presents and celebrate.

Five generations of the family helped Ho Thi Yen celebrate her 110th birthday in Hoang Mai Town, in the Nghe An Province, on Friday, 27th January.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren reportedly gathered from all over the country and abroad to give her presents and celebrate.

Yen reportedly read poems and proverbs to her large family at the birthday bash.

Officials from the Nghe An People's Committee also reportedly conveyed their greetings and best wishes to the 110-year-old.

Her unnamed husband was also reportedly from Hoang Mai Town, which was formerly known as Quynh Luu District.

The couple spent their youth serving in the Vietnamese army, according to local media, before turning to farming and having nine children. Three of them died at a young age but the other survived.

Four of the remaining six children reportedly went on to fight in the Vietnam War before starting their own families.

Nguyen Dinh Ngu, 60, Yen's fifth child, who has reportedly cared for his mother for many years, said: "My mother has 28 grandkids, 72 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren."

He said that his mother Yen was seriously ill when she was 85 but later recovered.

Her eyesight began to decline when she turned 90 and she now has difficulty walking.

But her children and grandchildren are said to help her go for her daily walk in the park, according to local media.
