'I'm a baby name expert - there are 4 invented names I would never give a child'

We all have our own preferences when it comes to baby names, but when you really can't decide on a moniker to give your little one, there are baby name experts who can help you come up with one you love.

And one such name consultant has revealed there are some names she would personally never suggest to parents as she can't stand them - including one that's a backward spelling of another word.

The expert, whose name is Steph, shared a two-part video on TikTok in which she ran through a list of "invented" baby names, some of which she loved, and some of which she hated.

At the end of the second video, Steph listed four baby names she would never suggest under any circumstances - Amiracle, Jaxon, Nevaeh, and Payson.

In the clip, posted to her @nameswithsteph account, she said: "My deepest apologies if those are your children's names. I just prefer Jackson spelt the traditional way, and if I was going to do a P name, I would do Palmer or Prestley. And the other ones are just not for me!"

Amiracle is an invented name that combines the phrase "a miracle", while Nevaeh is fairly popular among unique name lovers, as the word is Heaven spelt backwards.

Steph did also list a fifth name among her banned monikers, as she claimed some people have named their baby Abcde, which she pronounced "Ab-si-dee", in a similar way to the word "rhapsody".

Between her two videos on invented names, Steph said she loved the "invented Celtic-inspired names" of Icelyn, Irelyn, and Scotlyn, but she wasn't a fan of Blakeleigh or Lakelyn.

The name expert also said she had a soft spot for Maxon, which is a combination of Max and Mason, and she also advocated for the name Renesmee, which was made popular by the Twilight franchise and combines the names Renée and Esme.

And commenters on Steph's post were quick to share the unique names they've given their kids.

One person said: "My daughter's name is Renleigh and the last year I've been seeing it EVERYWHERE with all sorts of spellings. And I'm so sad."

While another added: "My daughter's name is an invented name. It is Stelliana from Stella and Anna."

But others said they would never use an "invented" name for their baby, as they much prefer the classics.

Someone stated: "Whatever happened to Michael, David and Mary and Anne?"
