Adrien Rabiot has opened the door to a potential Juventus exit as he admitted playing in the Champions League will be "crucial."
The Frenchman will be out of contract in Turin come the summer and is weighing up his next move with a switch to Manchester United long being touted. The Red Devils were in for Rabiot before they eventually signed Casemiro as Erik ten Hag sought midfield recruits.
The 27-year-old, who came through the ranks at PSG, remains a regular for Juventus under Max Allegri but their precarious league position, by no means helped by their points deduction, could hamper their chances of keeping the midfielder. Rabiot has made it clear he wants to play in Europe's top competition, but the Old Lady are currently sat in seventh, 12 points off the top four.
Rabiot admitted: "I wanna play Champions League, it will be a crucial point to make a decision on my future". On any potential new contract he added: "New deal with Juventus? There are no recent talks but we've time to do that, there's no news at this stage".
Last month the Frenchman told DAZN : "At this moment I feel good, but I don't know what's going to happen. The important thing is to give 100 per cent, then we'll see what happens. I'll talk to the club, but right now there are more important things to think about."
Marcel Sabitzer completes Man Utd transfer after last-minute deadline day dashUnited continue to be linked with Frenkie de Jong, who was on their radar for much of the summer. The player appears happy in Barcelona and Ten Hag may see Rabiot as a credible alternative should he fail to capture the Dutchman.
Would Rabiot be a good signing for Man Utd now they've got Casemiro? Have your say in the comments below.
Several big-name midfielders could be on the move this summer, which could set off a transfer merry-go-round. Jude Bellingham is thought to be the hottest property in Europe with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid all keen on the Englishman.
His compatriot Declan Rice, another man to be linked with those on the red half of Manchester, could well leave West Ham as he looks to progress his career with the Hammers facing the threat of relegation.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen were Ten Hag's preferred pair at the base of midfield, before the Dane's injury, with Bruno Fernandes playing as the team's No 10. Eriksen's issue forced the club to go and added Marcel Sabitzer on loan whilst Fred and Scott McTominay are also options.
United's main priority this summer however may be adding a marquee striker with Harry Kane on their radar as he looks to make a decision on his Tottenham future amid continued contract talk. Napoli hot-shot Victor Osimhen is also believed to be on United's radar but neither player will come cheap.
