A man has appeared in court after having sex with his wife on a bollard following a heated parking row with his neighbours.

Lee Craig McConnell, 28, parked his vehicle and a campervan in his neighbour's parking space in Meadow View in Blandford Forum, Dorset, Weymouth Magistrates' Court heard.

The court was told that the residential cul-de-sac often sees neighbours having difficulty parking and leaving their respective spaces with their vehicles, Dorset Live reports.

Prosecutor Richard Withey said McConnell parked his campervan in a neighbour's space, which "led to some tension" and "arguments" and forced her to put a bollard in place to prevent further incidents.

Mr Withey said the neighbour installed CCTV to overlook the area as the bollard was pushed over on multiple occasions.

The court heard that after 11pm on October 26, 2022, McConnell gestured to his wife to come over to the parking bollard where the couple then had sex in view of the camera.

The neighbour said she was "completely disgusted" and felt like the behaviour was meant to "shock and intimidate" her during their parking row.

On the same evening of the sexual act, the neighbour's husband had been taken to hospital.

Mr Withey said it was "an attempt by the defendant to humiliate her" and noted McConnell had answered no comment during the police interview.

McConnell pleaded guilty to indecent exposure at the court hearing on Friday.

Defending, Simon Lacey, remarked McConnell had been left "embarrassed" by his actions and had even placed their home for sale in a bid to draw a line under the incident.

McConnell also expressed concern a copy of the footage still exists and "worries" about what could happen to the video.

Mr Lacey said: "He had no idea cameras were there. It wasn't deliberate and not to humiliate the neighbour. It was clearly inappropriate for something that happened.

"He has come and pleaded guilty at the very first opportunity. It is fair to say the neighbour was only made aware of it when she was told about it."

Referring to the community fallout over McConnell's actions, he added: "The whole thing is a disaster. All the neighbours are turned against him and his wife and they are moving away.

"All they are doing is removing themselves from a very difficult situation. It is sad and this is a man who is trying to bring up a family and work. He is highly embarrassed about what happened. It is a very hard lesson to learn."

The matter was adjourned for a pre-sentence report and McConnell will appear again at the same court on April 27. He was released on bail but ordered not to contact his neighbour.
