Conor McGregor has shown off the large cut he suffered on his bum after being hit by a car on Friday.

The Irishman revealed to his fans that he had been hit by a car while out cycling in Ireland. The UFC star shared a video of the aftermath of the accident where his bike was shown scattered across the floor of the road, whilst a voice could be heard apologising.

Following the crash, McGregor seemingly feared for his life due to the speed of the hit. Alongside the video, the Irish fighter wrote: " Got a bang of a car just now from behind. A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full speed straight through me.

"Thank you God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life." Speaking roadside in the video he was heard telling the driver: " All good mate, don't worry about it.

"That's nasty, I could have been dead there. Jesus Christ.. I got away with my life there, boys." A second post then showed McGregor inside the car that had hit him, after needing a lift back to his home after he was back was left totalled in the back.

Sharing his ride home alongside the driver of the car named 'Mick', he went on: "I'm here with Mick... Mick smacked me with his car. We've got the bike in the back, it wasn't our time, Mick, that's all. God bless, and we're f***in' still here, thank God. That's all that matters.

A few hours on from the incident, the Irishman has now given an update on his condition to his 45.9 million Instagram followers. The Irish mixed martial artist shared a photo of a gruesome wound to his bum and upper right leg.

McGregor was seemingly lucky to escape with just the cut, as a more serious injury could well have hampered his planned return to the octagon. 'The Notorious One' has not featured since brutally breaking his leg in a defeat to Dustin Poirier back in July 2021.

In recent months the Irishman has ramped up his training as he targets a UFC comeback. McGregor will return to the USADA testing pool next month, which means he will need an extended period of drug testing before he can return.
