QNet and Ignite recruitment ring busted in Lagos as 12 suspects arrested

A QNet and Ignite human trafficking recruitment ring has been busted in Lagos, Nigeria.

As reported by Arise News on August 4th, twelve suspects have been arrested after a “major intelligence-led operation”

The crackdown, which targeted a fraudulent recruitment and network marketing operation allegedly linked to irregular migration activities, resulted in the arrest of the suspected leader of the syndicate, identified as Ouattra Adama, a Burkinabe national, alongside 11 other suspected facilitators.

The arrested suspects comprise eight Liberian nationals and three Cameroonians.

QNet is a long-running MLM pyramid scheme run by Malaysian national Vijay Eswaran (right).

The scam has a long history of human trafficking recruitment in Africa, particularly in Ghana. In May 2026, seventeen QNet victims were rescued in another human trafficking bust in Nigeria.

Ignite is a clone MLM pyramid scheme. The scam was launched a few months ago by Pathman Senathirajah (below), a former top QNet promoter who left the company earlier this year.

In the wake of recent arrests, Nigeria Immigration Service describes QNet and Ignite as

A transnational organised criminal group allegedly involved in fraudulent employment and business schemes used to facilitate irregular migration.

Nigerians have been warned to steer clear of both “criminal networks”, with cross-recruitment between the two scams seemingly common in Nigeria.
