Who is Julian Assange’s wife Stella Moris?

Stella Moris is the new wife of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.

Moris, 38, is a lawyer and a member of Assange’s legal team.

She was born in South Africa and holds Spanish and Swedish nationality.

Moris has lived in London for almost 20 years.

The couple met in 2011, with Assange proposing in 2020.

How did Julian Assange and Stella Moris get married?

There were four guests and two witnesses present at the wedding of Stella Moris and Julian Assange at Belmarsh prison.

The couple were able to marry despite Assange’s imprisonment in high security HMP Belmarsh, and the fact that he faces extradition to the US for allegedly leaking sensitive material about the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

Moris, who was was dressed in Vivienne Westwood, addressed the crowds who had gathered outside the prison: ’He’s the most amazing person in the world and he should be free," she said.

’But our love will carry us through," she added.

It’s believed that Assange, 50, proposed when Moris was pregnant with their first child.

She told The Times: “He gave me a VR [virtual reality] headset and told me there was a surprise inside for me.

“I found myself walking through this virtual world. There was a house and then a beach with balloons and stuff.

“And then Julian said ‘look up’ and there was this massive ‘Will you marry me?’ written in the sky.”

How many children does Julian Assange have?

Moris and Assange have two children.

Both young boys were present at the wedding - dressed in bow ties, smart blazers and purple kilts.

The newly married couple have two sons, Gabriel, who was born in 2017, and Max who has born in February 2019.

The couple secretly had two children together while Assange was holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Both children were conceived while Assange was in the embassy seeking asylum to avoid extradition to Sweden, it’s there where two women accused him of forcing them to have unprotected sex.

Assange has always denied the accusations and has never been charged.

Where is Julian Assange now?

Although he was allowed to marry, the Wikileaks founder is still imprisoned in Belmarsh, a maximum-security prison in south-east London.

In January 2022 Assange won his bid to appeal the decision to extradite him to the USA.

Ecuador revoked Assange’s asylum in April 2019 and he was arrested by police for violating a bail charge and dragged out of the embassy.

He faces 17 counts of breaking the US Espionage act for his role in obtaining and publishing secret military and diplomatic documents in 2010 and 2011, and one charge for conspiracy to commit computer intrusion.

If found guilty on all counts, he could face a sentence of up to 175 years.
