Fortress Capital Partners, a lending firm run by the fiancee of Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay and her father is being investigated by police after entering administration
An alleged investment fraud that has left Manchester United star Scott McTominay and other investors facing major losses is being investigated by police.
The Scottish midfielder could take a £1million hit after lending Fortress Capital Partners money to buy an investment property in Portugal. Other investors reportedly included Boyzone star Shane Lynch and Mario Falcone from The Only Way is Essex.

The lending firm, run by 27-year-old McTominay’s fiancee Cameron Reading and her dad Ashley, collapsed into administration last September.
It lent out investors’ money at higher interest rates and bought properties in Dubai, Spain and the UK. Administrators have confirmed investors are expected to get just 10p of every £1 they put in.

Now it has emerged the failed company is being probed by the Metropolitan Police, who said: “Officers from the economic crime team are investigating allegations of fraud. It follows a referral from Action Fraud. There have been no arrests.”
McTominay’s fiancee Cameron, 24, was the company’s investor relations head. She is being pursued for about £1.5m of loans by administrators. Fortress repaid certain debts using funds from investors “who believed they were investing into the company for future investments rather than [cover] past losses”, administrators say.
The transaction resulted in an overall loss of about £3.1m, “all of it funded either directly or indirectly by the company’s investors”, Begbies Traynor administrators claims.
One investor told The Times that Cameron is “on social media showing off a lifestyle that is upsetting to those who are losing their homes, life savings and retirement funds... and suicidal”.
Ashley Reading said he was assisting administrators to “achieve the best possible outcome for all creditors”. He was “not aware” of a police probe. Cameron Reading was approached for comment. A spokesman for McTominay, 27, said in November he had no involvement with Fortress.
