A mum has spoken of being left "terrified" after being threatened with a "knife and a hammer" outside a primary school.

The mum, who has chosen to remain anonymous, says the incident happened outside a Joseph Cash Primary School in Radford, Coventry.

A man, who is yet to be identified, allegedly "threatened and verbally abused" the mother-of-three when a parking row turned ugly at around 3.20pm on March 7.

As she went to drop her young daughter off at the gates, she became embroiled in a heated disagreement with a man after he "parked on a drop kerb". He had allegedly tried to 'intimidate' her that morning, with the situation escalating at pick-up time, which she says was around 3.20pm.

Speaking to CoventryLive, the mum of three, who asked not to be named, said: “It all started because another parent, a friend of mine, asked a man to not park on a drop kerb at a junction outside Joseph Cash Primary School. He just started mouthing off and being really aggressive.

“I went over to see whether she was OK. He then started on me and drove off at speed, then he turned his car around and nearly hit me and my three week old while I was trying to put him in the car and then when I did the pick-up he decided that he was going to take it upon himself to get a knife and a hammer and he was threatening me, my partner and my three kids while nearly ploughing into another kid when he drove down at speed.”

At this point, the mum of three said the man had threatened to 'kill them' which led to her calling 999. “I ended up having to ring 999 because he was running after the car and I ended up having to drive off. He was just being really aggressive and saying he was going to kill us, so I ended up taking refuge inside Joseph Cash because he kept on driving past my car trying to intimidate us,” she said.

Speaking about how the incident has affected her well-being, the 31-year-old said: “I cannot really go out of my house without my partner with me any more. I do not feel safe.”

Her six-year-old daughter also watched the incident unfold, which the mum says has left her feeling 'scared and worried.' She has also not returned to Joseph Cash Primary School since the incident happened on March 7.

Officers are investigating the incident and reviewing CCTV to establish the 'full circumstances of what happened.' Anyone who witnessed the incident has been asked to get in touch using 101 or WMP Live Chat.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We are investigating after an incident in Owenford Road, Coventry on Thursday, March 8. A woman reported being threatened and verbally abused by a man shortly before 3pm.

“Officers are carrying out CCTV enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened, and anyone who saw what happened can contact us via Live Chat or 101 quoting crime number 20/240512/24.”
