Those who believe in aliens claim they have been getting in touch with extra-terrestrials for over twenty years at Asia 's 'Area 51'.

Khao Kala in central Thailand hosts a Buddhist UFO sect who say they have been communicating with members of a so-called Milky Way Federation for decades. Previously the group sparked concern among authorities, leading them to ransack the group's meditation centre four years ago, according to the South China Morning Post.

However, earlier this year, officials had a change of heart. On January 13, the city was a hotspot for extra-terrestrial tourism as the very first 'Belief Fest' started. Narongchai Jindapan, mayor of Nakhon Sawan, said: "It’s the first UFO music festival in Asia, here in Khao Kala, the 'Area 51 of Asia.' It’s where you can see the most UFOs in Thailand."

The festival happened in a sugar field and there were 1,000 UFO-crazy visitors there for music and entertainment. Attendees could pose for out-of-this-world fake abductions, whilst scary black-eyed 'aliens' were seen making moves and cutting shapes. However, there was one issue. UFO Khao Kala, the group who operates a camp and meditation centre and claims to be in contact with aliens, was not officially involved in the festivities. Members were not even invited.

But the atmosphere was not a friendly one. Alien enthusiast Num Yodnin said he was a fan of the festival as it got the authorities off his group's back. He hoped it would eventually help to spread the message. "It’s going to raise awareness of what’s going on at Khao Kala to many people," he said. Num claims he sees aliens "every day" and reckoned visitors to the site could have the same experience.

"They will see what I’ve seen. They can come and figure it out from what they see, not just from things on social media or word of mouth. I want people to come here and see with their own eyes and decide if it’s true or not true." UFO Khao Kala's apocalyptic predictions have also proved controversial, with the group believing humanity is on the brink of nuclear annihilation.
