A woman has shocked Brits after she tried English mustard for the first time - as she warned fellow Americans it will "burn your face off".

Foodie blogger Desarae Legros regularly posts videos online with her chaotic cooking and aptly goes by the name @cooking_comedy_chaos.

In a recent video, she attempts to try a quintessential British ham sandwich with English mustard, and even though she likes hot flavours, she didn't anticipate exactly how hot it would be. Despite being warned, she slathered the mustard on thick.

"I've been told about 5,000 times to be very careful because it's super spicy but I love spicy so I'm not going to be as careful as careful as all my British friends wanted me to be," she explained as she opened her jar of Coleman's English Mustard. She then smelt it and admitted it did smell spicy.

"I love mustard, I am very much a mustard girl. I love a turkey sandwich with mustard, a roast beef sandwich with mustard, a ham sandwich with mustard, I just love mustard." She then gets a teaspoon full of the English mustard and spreads it on her slice of bread.

However it was at this moment Brits started to cringe as she thickly spread it like it was butter, and even said she needed more as one teaspoon "definitely wasn't enough". So after applying another whole teaspoon of mustard to the bread, she asked if there was horseradish in it and said the amount was now perfect.

Covering the whole slice of bread in English mustard, leaving no gaps, she placed some slices of ham on top and added that she was going to just have the one slice of bread and have half a sandwich. Desarae then closed over the bread and said she was going to "be the judge" of her British sarnie.

After three big bites, she put the sandwich down, turned around and asked: "Are we sure there is no horseradish in there because that is spicy," as she started to scream, she then said: "I thought you guys were lying about the spice. I was just thinking I could handle more spice than you can. Holy c***p that's spicy."

Desarae then downed a pint of iced water and said her "nasal passages are cleared out" and said: "I really didn't think it was that spicy. It's got amazing flavour but I've learnt my lesson from now on and I'm going to trust all my British friends.

"I've never had mustard that potent. My eyes are watering," and said she just assumed Brits couldn't handle spice like she could and blamed herself for not listening.

However, after her initial shock, she then went in for another bite as she claimed she loved the flavour and urged her fellow Americans to not put a tablespoon of mustard on their sandwiches and concluded: "It's going to burn your face off, but it's worth it."

People were loving her review, and one fan advised: "Don't use a spoon, use a butter knife and just a thin smear is plenty."
