A woman has been urged to dump her boyfriend due to his childhood best friend, Fluffy.

They say two is company and three is a crowd, but does that logic apply to stuffed teddies? One grown, adult woman has found herself in a bit of a conundrum over a fictional character that's somehow wiggled its way into her relationship.

She says her partner has many 'fantastic traits' and feels like the relationship does have 'potential' - but only if her 40-year-old beau stops his 'strange habit'. The story has sparked debate online, with many criticising the man for his 'odd' behaviour. Fluffy, if you're reading this - you'd better shut your eyes...

Taking to Mumsnet, the anonymous woman explains that her boyfriend speaks about Fluffy like he's a real person. He will say things like 'I was telling Fluffy what a great time we had last night, and 'I should go to bed soon, Fluffy is lonely'.

"Worse still, I have kids and he doesn't and he refers to Fluffy as his son, which annoys me no end," the post reads. "I've actually asked him once before to stop. When it was clear we might get intimate on a future date, I said he needed to stop (I actually didn't get a reason). He did stop but commenced again after we'd slept together."

Hundreds of baffled users rushed to the comments section, with many branding the behaviour as a 'massive turn-off'. "Bleurgh!" One user wrote. "Clearly he doesn't get that this is a full-on vagina-zipping issue. I'm guessing he hasn't had much relationship experience, what with Fluffy being the third wheel."

Another agreed, commenting: "Erm what?! I mean, if it was his dog I'd totally get it but a stuffed toy? Just no." While a third joked: "I have the ick on your behalf."

Some even suggested 'kidnapping' Fluffy or 'putting him in a blender' to meet a painful demise. One joked: "Can you not tell Fluffy to tell his dad that you've run off with Bunny and not to contact you again? You can't sleep with a man who talks to his soft toy!"

Dump him or embrace Fluffy - what would you do? Let us know in the comments section below
