Donald Trump won't be impressed with Jimmy Kimmel

Jimmy Kimmel took aim at Donald Trump as he hosted this year's Oscars and it's "almost certain" the former US President will hit back, according to an expert.

The four-time Academy Awards host had some time to kill as he told the audience the show was running ahead of schedule. "I'm really proud of something and I was hoping I could share it with you," Jimmy said and pulled out his phone.

He explained he had just been given a bad review from Trump on the conservative social media site, Truth Social. In response, Jimmy looked at the camera and said: "Thank you for watching I'm surprised you're still up. Isn't it passed your jail time?" PR expert Kieran Elsby has told The Mirror Jimmy will have angered Trump with his comments.

Kieran said: "Given Trump's history of responding aggressively to criticism, it's almost certain that he'll fire back at Jimmy Kimmel for his comments at the Oscars. Trump thrives on public attention, and being the subject of controversy only seems to energise him, especially as he's in an election race.

"His supporters expect him to fight back against any perceived attacks, and Trump knows that engaging in these public spats can actually rally his base and generate more support. So, while Kimmel's comments may have stirred the pot, they'll likely only serve to fuel Trump's fire as he embraces the publicity and uses it to his advantage in the political arena."

Jimmy read out Trump's post during the Oscars ceremony. It said: "Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars?

"His opening was that of a less-than-average person trying too hard to be something he is not and can never be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up but cheap ABC 'talent' George Slopanopoulous."

George is a former White House communications director who now works for Good Morning America. Jimmy continued: "He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous, blah blah blah. Make America Great Again."

The actual post continued after 'glamorous' and read: "Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years - disjointed, boring, and very unfair. Why don't they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them. Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths."

The crowd loved Jimmy's jail time comeback and burst into laughter. Trump lost a civil fraud trial last month and was ordered to pay $355million (£276million) and banned from running businesses in New York state for three years.
