Fans of McDonald's may soon notice their favourite burgers taste different or have changed size, A the fast food chain is making significant alterations to some of its most popular dishes.
For the first time in 50 years McDonald's will be implementing modifications to the way it cooks and prepares its much-loved beef patties. Fan favourites including the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with cheese and its classic cheeseburger variations including double and triple, will all be getting a taste change.
It comes after the company saw success in making changes to the Australia and US markets, that now bosses want to ensure the restaurant's new burger tweaks are now being implemented across the UK and Ireland "to ensure even juicier burgers, served hotter".
McDonald's said that beef patties will now have "tighter sear" on the grill, resulting in "hotter and juicier" beef patties. The change is said to maximise flavour. New processes are also being implemented to the grilled onions. White onions will now be added to the grill on top of the patties as they cook, for added colour and a better charred flavour.
Staff will now also use fresh lettuce straight from the fridge for "that extra snap, crunch, and clean taste". McDonald's restaurants in the UK will also have hotter beef patties meaning the cheese on top can ooze over the sides of the burger. What's more, burger lovers can expect a new "buttery" brioche-style buns with a "pillow" texture.

Gareth Pearson, Chief Restaurant Officer, McDonald's UK and Ireland, said: "We are excited to introduce our enhanced classic beef burgers. We're constantly innovating and improving our menu and we found that a collection of complementary small improvements to the iconic burgers make a significant difference to the flavour.
"Another big part of this transition has been around our restaurant teams and how we can support them in delivering the best possible customer experience. Not only have we introduced new kitchen technology, but we've also retrained all 177,000 crew members on these new procedures to enable them to serve our best burgers yet."
McDonald's new and improved classic beef burgers are available in restaurants from mid-March.
