Messi, the dog from Anatomy of a Fall, took a seat in the Dolby Theater for The Oscars.

In the nominated thriller film, novelist Sandra Voyter's son Daniel is visually impaired and uses a guide dog named Snoop (played by Messi). When he and Snoop come back home after playing in the woods, they find his father dead. Fingers quickly pointed to Sandra who insisted his death must have been an accident while a friend suggested it might have been a suicide. Daniel is left to sort through moral questions as the legal drama unfolds.

Fans weren't sure if Messi would be able to make it alongside the cast as conflicting reports originally insinuating he wouldn't be able to attend.

A source originally said that Messi wouldn't be attendance at the main ceremony after he one-upped all the A-listers at the nominee luncheon where he met stars like America Ferrera.

However, it seems like the hype around the pup led him to attend nonetheless. Messi's trainer and dog mom told The Hollywood Reporter: "All of this attention began at Cannes ... There were a few interviews in France, but what we’ve been experiencing here in America — with the attention to this dog and his acting — it’s beyond anything we anticipated. It’s probably the maximum that you can accomplish in this field."

Not only did Messi walk the carpet and attend, but he was given his own seat. In the theater, he climbed onto one of the folding chairs where he was able to hang out for the event. He was dressed up with a little black bowtie around his neck. "Who is he wearing?" one fan joked. Another wrote: "It’s the way I would be begging everyone to let me switch seats just so I could sit next to Messi at the Oscars."

Fans took over the Internet to call Messi a "good boy." One added: "The Messi saga is just good clean fun all around because at the end of the day he’s a dog who doesn’t know what the Oscars are."

Messi, according to many, was snubbed by the Academy at this year's Oscars. "Messi the dog, the academy snubbed you but you already a winner in our hearts," wrote a fan.
