Sir Elton John’s Oscars party is bigger and more lavish than ever before

The singer has laid on a special treat for his guests - an exclusive look inside his wardrobe in a special display. Guests include Smokey Robinson, Ellie Goulding, Jane Seymour, Jacob Lusk from Gabriels, Lucien Laviscount, Donatella Versace, Liz and Damian Hurley and Neil Patrick Harris.

There is a Louis Vuitton "garden in hell" bag of which only ten were made in total…two Gucci bomber jackets, five Versace shirts, two Versace robes and some slippers with E and J emblazoned on. Inside the party, there is a pinball machine in dedication to the Pinball Wizard star and an amazing ice sculpture.

This year’s Oscars got off to an eventful start earlier this evening, with High School Musical actress Vanessa Hudgens debuting a surprise baby bump as she led stars arriving at the 2024 Academy Awards. Vanessa, who is co-hosting the official Oscars red carpet alongside Julianne Hough ahead of the biggest night in showbiz, cradled her growing belly on the red carpet outside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, wearing a sleek black dress. It comes after the 35-year-old married US baseball player Cole Tucker in a ceremony in Mexico last year.

Jimmy Kimmel is hosting the Oscars from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where Oppenheimer is expected to win a slew of top awards. ITV is broadcasting the ceremony in the UK this year after the show moved from its former home on Sky Cinema, with Jonathan Ross opening the coverage at 10.15pm UK time on Sunday night.

The Oscars’ start time was delayed by five minutes, Ross has told ITV viewers earlier this evening, as pro-Palestine protesters gathered outside the ceremony. This caused delays to stars accessing the red carpet, it has been reported. The show eventually opened with host Kimmel superimposed into a scene from the box office sensation Barbie.

In the bus stop scene from the film, Margot Robbie’s Barbie turns to him and says "You’re so beautiful." Kimmel replies: "I know I was just thinking that, I haven’t eaten in three weeks. "I’m so hungry, I have to go host the Oscars." Appearing on stage, he said: "Thank you for that partial standing ovation."

The Oscars host added: "And for making it on time, the show is starting an hour earlier this year but don’t worry, it will still start very, very late." Kimmel also made passing reference to the strikes which ground Hollywood to a halt, referring to what "a hard year" it had been for the industry.
