Streaming giant Netflix is hiring staff to work on a private jet - and you'll be paid a whopping £300,000.

The successful candidate will need to help the company "continue to create joy around the world" and will be paid as much as $385,000 (£313,538) a year.

Despite laying off 300 employees in a second round of job cuts last year, after losing subscribers for the first time in more than a decade, the huge salary may come as a surprise to many.

According to the job listing on the website, they are looking for candidates with "independent judgement, discretion and outstanding customer service skills".

They are also looking for someone who can "operate with little direction and a lot of self-motivation."

While the role is based in San Jose, California, it will require travel in and beyond the United States.

This is so the Netflix Flight Attendant can help the team and "Netflix reach the world more efficiently and effectively so the company can continue to create joy around the world."

Therefore, the company will be determining the successful employee's salary by considering "compensation factors" such as their "aviation experience", background and skills.

The duties will also include being able to lift items as heavy as 13.6kg (30lb) when loading and stocking planes, as the right candidate will be working on a "Super Midsize Jet".

They will also be responsible for inspecting emergency equipment in the cockpit, cabin and gallery before takeoff.

In full, the job specification for the role reads: "As a Netflix Flight Attendant you are expected to embrace our culture, which places a strong emphasis on operating with Freedom and Responsibility, with independence and a lot of self-motivation.

"This is a lead position for a Northern California-based Flight Attendant, and the right candidate will be professionally trained in cabin and passenger safety and aircraft emergency evacuation. As you travel, you embrace the Netflix culture of Freedom and Responsibility, allowing you to operate with little direction and a lot of self-motivation.

"You also demonstrate the independent judgment, discretion and outstanding customer service skills necessary to provide a seamless experience for our passengers."

The streaming giant added that the salary "is in line with our compensation philosophy".

The job listing continued to outline: "At Netflix, we carefully consider a wide range of compensation factors to determine your personal top of market. We rely on market indicators to determine compensation and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to get it right. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary and will also be dependent on your location.

"The overall market range for this role is typically $60,000 - $385,000."

In June last year, Netflix made cuts across multiple business functions in the company, with the bulk of the jobs lost in the US.

It grappled with slowing growth and increased competition, having previously made an initial round of reductions of similar size in May 2022.

The firm has also launched a new streaming option with advertisements, and is cracking down on password sharing as it tries to boost growth.
