BBC's Saturday Kitchen viewers were left upset this weekend as they realised the show was not dedicated to the late Dave Myers.
Dave's co-star Si King revealed this week that his best friend had died at the age of 66 after being diagnosed with cancer. Dave and Si were regular contributors to Saturday Kitchen, with many fans tuned in this weekend hoping to see a tribute to the much-loved star.
However, during the opening of the show, host Matt Tebbutt and his panel of guests waved flags in celebration of 'Rick Stein Day.'
Matt went on to give a short speech recalling his fondness for Hairy Biker Dave before a special video of him and Si was played. When the clips finished, Matt said: "He [Dave] would have relished being part of celebrating Rick today. So, let's carry Dave in our hearts and get on with today's show."
Lots of fans weren't happy and went online to share their upset at the tribute. Someone wrote: "Rick Stein Day? ! Seriously? Shouldn't today's programme be dedicated to Dave Myers? #saturdaykitchen."
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessOne person wrote on Twitter : "Shouldn't you lot on #saturdaykitchen at least wear a black arm band in respect to #hairy," while another posted: "WTF - in the week we lose Dave Myers #SaturdayKitchen decides to spurn one of their most entertaining guests go with 90mins of kissing Rick Stein's a**e? ! Not even a mention of him in the opening segment. Unbelievable."
Someone else said: "I hope we have a whole episode dedicated to Dave Myers soon. Considering he was regularly on the show and even a host, I thought more time would be dedicated today. #SaturdayKitchen."
Another viewer mentioned: "#saturdaykitchen I've clearly missed something. Why all the tributes to Rick? Anyone would think it was he who passed away, not Dave Myers."
Yet another tweet read: "Would have been more appropriate for #saturdaykitchen to dedicate today's show to #HairyBikers not #rickstein."
Despite these comments, some viewers were touched by the tribute to Dave. One person tweeted: "Poor Dave, gone far too soon R.I.P.... #saturdaykitchen," and another wrote: "A really moving and respectful tribute to Dave Myers on #SaturdayKitchen."
Another comment was: "Nailed it. Looking forward to the tribute show. RIP the amazing Dave Myers. #SaturdayKitchen."
And someone else shared: "Lovely little tribute there,@SaturdayKitchen @amandacactus @matt_tebbutt #SaturdayKitchen #RickSteinDay."
Matt Tebbutt later confirmed that Saturday Kitchen will have a special show to remember Dave Myers.
