Questions on ITV's The Chase can often leave the contestants baffled - and sometimes even the Chaser.

When you're under the bright studio spotlights, it can cause even veteran quizzers to panic, hyperfocus on the wrong thing, and then get the answer wrong as a result. It's just a fact - answering quiz show questions in your home, in your pyjamas, with a takeaway is just so much easier.

But when one maths question was asked on the show, everyone was left utterly perplexed by the strange question - but do you think that you could give it a shot?

The question, known by maths experts online as the 'Birthday paradox', was: How many people need to be in a room to give a 99.9% chance that two of them share the same birthday?

The multiple-choice options were 25, 50, or 75. Both Andrew and The Sinnerman put 25. "I think it's one of those weird maths [questions], it doesn't sound very distinctive - but it's an unusual number so I went for the low", Andrew told host Bradley Walsh after choosing his answer, to which Bradley questioned: "Got to be much higher than that?!", reports Wales Online.

When the correct answer, 75, was shown, host Bradley was horrified that The Sinnerman had also selected the wrong answer shouting "NOO!" The Sinnerman replied: "I knew it was low so went for the lowest, I'd heard the fact before but clearly not well enough!"

And it wasn't just them who were baffled over the question, as one summarised during the advert break "still don't understand the maths question," minutes after it had aired.

If you're looking for more to keep your brain busy, why not attempt to spot the strawberry among the watermelons? Or, if you're up for something a little more tricky, you can try to spot the animal within the zig-zag image. Or, see whether you have a 'highly intelligent mind' by working out the next number in the baffling maths sequence.

Did you manage to answer the maths question? Let us know in the comments.
