A trio of nurses have been sacked for dancing and filming a reel for social media in the middle of an operating room.
The nurses, identified as Tripti Dasar, Pushpa Sahu, and Tej Kumari, were seen creating the short video while inside the theatre at the Dau Kalyan Singh PG Institute and Research Centre in Raipur, a city in India's state of Chhattisgarh.
Phone footage shot by a fourth person inside the theatre shows the nurses, dressed in green medical uniforms, dancing to popular songs while holding surgical items in their hands. The trio were working as daily wage staff when they made the reel, local media said.
The nurses were meant to be working in the hospital's Emergency Medical Department that day but they allegedly left their posts. Deputy superintendent Dr Hemant Sharma stated that the trio filmed themselves inside the operation theatre of the burn and plastic surgery unit on 5th February.
The incident came to Dr Sharma's attention after a complaint was filed against them on 23rd February. Nurses Tripti, Pushpa, and Tej were shortly fired afterwards. Dr Sharma emphasised that taking pictures and videos inside operation rooms is against the rules. He added: "They allegedly misbehaved with the ward in charge when she objected to their act."

The videos were created by various NHS departments to lift spirits at a time when morale in hospitals was low due to increased death rates.
Two Namibian trainee nurses also faced disciplinary action after they posted a video on TikTok of themselves dancing inside a health clinic in October last year. Charmaine Keandra and Smart Muranda said they were celebrating after helping a patient successfully deliver a baby.
"The patient was taken to the theatre, was operated on, and the baby was fine, and she [the mother], was also fine. After that, because we were happy, we decided to make a TikTok video," one of the students told the Namibian newspaper. In its letter, the Welwitschia Health Centre accused the two trainees of disobeying the student code of conduct and bringing the good name of the institution into disrepute.
