An abandoned 'haunted' mansion, used in TV show Outlander's first ever episode, is now slowly being engulfed by nature.

Dunmore Park House was once the home of George Murray, 5th Earl of Dunmore, and built by architect William Wilkins in the 1820s. In 1911, the home was purchased by the Jones timber family, and was in their possession until 1960. For three years, the mansion in Falkirk in Scotland served as a boarding school for girls but was abandoned in 1964.

Parts of the estate were split up and auctioned off, with several sections being demolished in 1972 after safety concerns - with plans to demolish the whole property in 1987. The plans fell through - and in the decades since, many more plans to restore and demolish the building have also failed.

Now, the building lies abandoned - and with several "haunting" rumours, after urban explorers claimed to hear ghosts in 2019. In recent years, plans to develop the property into a golf club, luxury housing, and a new stately home have all fallen through due to the millions required in repairs.

In 2014, the not-so-stately home served as the filming location for the first episode of hit TV series Outlander - where it featured as the field hospital where protagonist Claire Fraser treated wounded soldiers. The grounds are also home to Scotland's "most bizarre building'' the "Dunmore Pineapple" - a summer house constructed in the shape of a pineapple for the 4th Earl of Dunmore in 1761.
