Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is almost here, and we've got the exact time you'll be able to start playing the highly anticipated sequel.

Fans have been desperate to play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth since they rolled credits on 2020's Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and who can blame them. The good news is, it's almost time for the next entry in the 'Compilation of Final Fantasy 7' to release. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth launches later this week exclusively on PS5 – with the exclusivity window only lasting three months this time around, so it will likely arrive on PC sometime in the summer.

For those unaware, the Final Fantasy 7 remake project is split into three separate games, starting with 2020's Remake, followed up by Rebirth, with a third game to cap off the project coming in the future. However, things aren't so simple, with the characters' fates being altered in real time, which can make Remake and Rebirth feel like a sequel to Final Fantasy 7 rather than a remake at times.

For those of you who just can't wait, the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo, is available right now. The demo features the Nibelheim portion of the game, and allows you to run around the world for a while. What's even better is that you'll be able to skip the section in the full game and continue from where you left off.

Having a Final Fantasy 7 rebirth demo save will also allow you to get some goodies in-game – the Kupo Charm and Survival set – which you can redeem from the Bonuses menu when you launch the full game.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: preload, file size and release time

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth preload is available right now on PS5. And it's probably for the best that you take advantage of that fact as the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth file size comes in at a staggering 145.7GB.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is launching at midnight local time in every region, except for the US, where the game is set to launch at midnight Eastern even if you're in Central, Mountain, or Pacific time. With that in mind the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release time is 12am GMT / 12am EST on Thursday, February 29 and 9pm PST on Wednesday, February 28.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has received critical acclaim ahead of launch, with our 4/5 review saying "Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth far and away exceeds itself, staying true to the 1997 PS1 classic’s spirit, while fleshing out various familiar story beats and iconic areas, before taking both in new directions".

Don't forget to boot up the demo to get your rewards, even if you don't intend on playing it!
