Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to sell 10 Manchester United stars as part of a major squad overhaul.

The INEOS owner is now officially in charge of football operations at Old Trafford after his minority takeover was approved. He is wasting no time in getting the squad into order and is targeting an array of sales.

Ratcliffe has already warned that United can’t spend heavily under his watch to ensure they abide by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules. As a result, he is aiming to move on a host of underperforming stars from Old Trafford.

According to the Manchester Evening News, those out of contract next summer have been earmarked for exits. That includes Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Facundo Pellistri.

Casemiro could also be allowed to leave amid interest from Saudi Arabia. The Red Devils are also hoping that they can bank considerable amounts for other stars.

Underperforming wingers Jadon Sancho and Antony could both leave - although the former’s future could hinge on if current boss Erik ten Hag remains in situ. Mason Greenwood could also be sold after spending the current season on loan with Spanish side Getafe. The forward could remain in La Liga after links with Barcelona.

The Red Devils other loan stars Hannibal Mejbri and Alvaro Fernadez - who are with Sevilla and Benfica respectively - could be sold on permanent deals. Finally, Donny van de Beek is not expected to have a future at Old Trafford. The Dutchman is currently in the middle of a loan spell with German side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Speaking recently about his plans for the upcoming summer transfer window, Ratcliffe said: "Ultimately the level we want to get Manchester United to is not the level we are at. That takes time. It's not just about players, it is the whole machine. There are thousands of people in that machine and we need to get that machine working really well.

"We need to be as good as anyone else in the game at recruitment and we haven't been. FFP [Financial Fair Play] is a new element in football and a really important part of managing a football club well. We will assess how much money we have available and use it well.

"We have to find the best people in the world, ensure they have the right character and personality, and create the right environment for elite sportspeople to be successful. All we're doing is trying to drive performance on the pitch."

Away from sales, Ratcliffe has also reportedly started planning the players he wants to take to Old Trafford. Luton star Ross Barkley is among his targets having already signed the ex-Chelsea and Everton midfielder for Nice.
