A bride has been put firmly in her place after taking to the internet to complain about her wedding guests.

Sara shared a post online explaining that she had invited 141 people to her destination nuptials - but received a very low number of RSVPs back. She went online to explain the situation and hit out at friends and family for choosing to not attend her wedding. But her post ended up being re-shared on Facebook - with thousands of people admitting they were appalled by her rant.

In her post, American bride-to-be Sara wrote: "At the risk of sounding entitled, I have to vent today… "When we invited our friends and family to our destination wedding in Thailand, only nine people RSVP'd. Out of 150!!! OK, I get it, paying $3,000 (£2,370) to share my special day is too much for some of you. I'd pay for yours, but whatever.

"But then, when we changed the wedding to be in Hawaii, so it's within everyone's reach, only seven of you RSVP'd? It costs less but less of you want to come? Is that what you think of me? You can't spare $2,000 (£2,400) to come share our happiness?" She concluded by saying: 'I'm tempted to just elope and not let any of you be part of our happiest day. This is it guys, you have three days to respond to our e-vites or we're deleting you off Facebook and good luck keeping up with our lives then. And don't get me started on the registry - only the cheap stuff is gone, I swear I thought I had better friends. [My husband] and I are asking you to reconsider."

Readers were less than impressed by her attitude. One person wrote: "Judging friendships by how much money they spend on you really is bottom of the barrel. I wonder if she even has one real friend. Probably all suck ups who fake laugh at her entitled stories." A second noted: "Does she not understand people have jobs and kids or just simply don't want to spend thousands on someone else's wedding?" And a third admitted: "If I was her friend I'd save her a job and unfriend myself after reading that."

It comes after one bride angrily cancelled her wedding after a number of guests refused to contribute an extortionate amount to fund her 'exclusive' big day. The woman, from Canada, had demanded $1,500 Canadian dollars (£891) from each of her guests instead of a gift. And when most people declined to pay the staggering amount, she decided to call off the entire wedding.

She wrote: "Dear friends, it comes with great sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of the wedding. I apologise for cancelling only four days beforehand. Unfortunately, [fiancé] and I have broken up due to some recent and irreparable problems. We have decided to end our relationship and not go forth with any future proceedings."

She then went on to blame her guests for the cancellation, writing: "I specifically, I mean specifically asked for cash gifts. How could we have the wedding that we dreamed of without proper funding? We'd sacrificed so much and only asked each guest for around $1,500 (£875). My maid of honour pledged $5,000 (£2,920) along with her planning services. We tearfully thanked and accepted. My ex's family offered to contribute $3,000 (£1,752).

"So our request for $1,500 (£875) for all other guests was not f***ing out of the ordinary. Like, we made it clear. If you couldn't contribute, you weren't invited to our exclusive wedding. It's a once in a lifetime party. After sending out the invitations, only eight guests RSVP'd with their cheque of $1,500. We were f***ing livid."
