A mum has hit back at critics after coming under fire for putting her son 'on a leash'.
Rachel Butcher took to social media to defend herself after receiving nasty comments when she stepped out with her toddler, who wears a backpack with reins attached.
She said, via Brightside: "My child runs faster than me. Due to scar tissue from my hysterectomy, I have trouble running sometimes to keep up with him. Let it also be known, I religiously ran races and ran every day before my surgery. So it's not due to laziness."
She also addressed the fact that her son was adopted, saying: "Our son has more energy and speed than your average 21-month-old. Aside from his already rough beginning of medicine exposure, we know little to nothing about his biological family and their genetics. So he could be more hyper just from experiences that I don't know of."

Speaking in 2020, Rachel continued: "I've come home crying because I've left stores before finishing shopping because he's having a meltdown, I also got snide comments and nasty looks then too.

"But today, today was worse. We went to Target and he wore his backpack and he did AMAZING. He was HAPPY, LAUGHING, SMILING, and yes, running, but he was close to me.
"My son is nearly three now and still runs – like full out sprints – he still attends OT, PT, and speech, and we're working through his developmental delays and he is thriving. Remember his name, one day he will be a running back!"
It comes after another mum came under fire for her unusual parenting hack. Rachel, who is a teacher , believes her method speeds up the morning rush and helps it run smoothly. And while she has been dubbed "cruel" in the past for her unique idea, a number of people have admitted their children do the same.
Rachel, who has become a TikTok and YouTube sensation with her baby learning videos, raked in millions of views after admitting, "I dress my little boy for school at night."
The content creator, better known as Miss Rachel, explained: "We put on a nice new shirt, sweatpants - super comfy and great for jammies - and then when he wakes up we just thrown on sneakers. Someday I'll teach him to wake up for school and get dressed and that will be a very good thing to teach, but I can't do that right now.
"And that's OK I'm doing my best and so are you and I love you." Rachel added: "he bathes at night, he doesn't get sweaty at night. If he did, we'd grab new clothes. What's your favourite tip or trick? We love this for us."
