Fans of the Princess of Wales have cannily noticed that her new private secretary has an incredible lookalike.
Kensington Palace confirmed that Lieutenant Colonel Tom White, who used to be the late Queen Elizabeth's former equerry, has been appointed as the Princess of Wales's new secretary, the Times reported. Prince William's wife has been without a private secretary for over a year but now she is recovering from abdominal surgery needs more help. Royal fans are in disbelief at how much he looks like tennis legend Roger Federer.
Back in November, the Telegraph reported that Kate had invited Lt Col Tom White to join her at a public engagement to see what the job entails. The war hero worked for the late Queen until she died in 2022. Before that, the Royal Marines officer served in Afghanistan in 2009. One user wrote on X: "Oh my he looks like Roger Federer. [heart eyes emoji]". Another added: "Excellent! He looks like Roger Federer." A third wrote: "He looks like Roger Federer."
When he was a 22-year-old lieutenant, White helped avert a tragedy in Helmand after the Taliban booby-trapped a school. He helped spot wires under the schoolroom door, preventing what could have been an unthinkable evil. He was quoted at the time saying: "It turns your stomach to think what could have happened if we hadn’t found the bombs. These people knew they could have blown a lot of kids sky high – and they didn’t care."
His appointment represents a re-commitment to the approach of running a royal household and affirms the close ties with the armed forces. The previous candidate for the position was Alison Corfield, described as a "straight-talking" brand management expert. The Princess of Wales is not expected to attend any royal engagements until after Easter. Mr White, a 36-year-old father, has become the first man to occupy the position of private secretary to the Princess of Wales.
