Turkish outfit Besiktas have terminated the contract of Emirhan Delibas - after his dating profile went viral online.

The 21-year-old has departed the club by mutual agreement although the winger has denied that the profile is his and labelled the account 'fake'. Delibas made just two senior appearances for Besiktas before leaving having progressed through their youth academy.

There was no official reason given for the decision but it is understood to have been connected to Delibas' alleged profile on dating app Bumble - which included false information.

In a statement, the club said: "We have parted ways with professional football player Emirhan Delibas by mutual agreement. We wish him success in his future career."

On his dating profile there was a photo of Delibas wearing Besiktas' training kit and holding a drink, which was accompanied by his name and age, claiming he is 24. His description said that he was a footballer for the club, provided his Instagram handle and revealed that he was looking for 'something casual'.

The player has looked to distance himself from the profile and released a statement on Instagram saying: "I reject the slanders made by fake accounts and would like to state that my loyalty to my team cannot be questioned. Besiktas is a responsibility for me. Your love has been my greatest motivation."

Delibas played for Besiktas in their Super Lig defeat by Kasimpasa in January. He also made a brief cameo in the Europa Conference League for the Turkish outfit, albeit his total minutes for the season only came to 14. He began his career in the youth ranks at Besiktas in 2010 when he was just seven. Delibas has also represented Turkey at U-17, U-18 and U-19 level.

Besiktas are currently sat fourth in the Super Lig, but are miles off the pace with the leaders more than twenty points ahead. The Turkish side were dumped out of Europe in the group stages having finished third following one win from their six matches.

Former Manchester United star Eric Bailly is another man to have his Besiktas contract ripped up this season. The Ivorian moved to the Turkish outfit in September but a bust-up with his own team-mate and an alleged curse placed upon him has seen his time in Istanbul cut short.
