It's time to be strong and re-watch The Truman Show without crying when Jim Carrey's world comes crashing down around him.

Those familiar with the 1998 hit will know the soul-crushing storyline well. But if you've never seen it (spoiler incoming) the film follows the mundane but wholesome life of insurance salesmen, Truman Burbank. However, not all is what it seems and Truman soon starts becoming suspicious of everyone around him - including his own wife.

It isn't long until Truman works out he's living in some kind of simulation - and the only way to escape his tortured fate is to cross a seemingly dangerous sea where his dad allegedly drowned. Meanwhile, the nation watches in suspense as viewers learn his entire life has been constructed for a TV show. But, one fan has re-watched the film and has found a bunch of hidden details that you probably missed.

In a now deleted X (Twitter) post from 2020, one user pieced together a thread pointing out all the little clues which pop up in the film, making it "one of the best movies of all time". One of the best moments comes when Truman visits the travel agents, as he waits to speak to an advisor in an office surrounded by posters designed to discourage travel, including a plane being struck by lightning and the message 'It could happen to you'.

The fan points out that the travel agent is late to speak to him as she's never had to go to work before and was hurriedly getting her make-up done for the TV appearance - and even enters to the room still wearing her make-up bib before noticing the error and subtly dropping it into her lap. The rack of travel brochures behind Truman is filled with cruise holidays to play on his fear of water, and there's also a large noticeable camera on the top.

Jim Carrey's character is also shown to take vitamin D tablets every morning to compensate for the fact he's never experienced natural sunlight. The Island Times newspaper shown in various scenes is shown to be volume XXIX (29), and number 10,765 (29 years in days), matching Truman's age as the fake paper only had reason to print following his birth.

As Truman begins to piece together the Big Brother reality around him, one of the producers is shown to be browsing the job section of the LA Times, knowing he may soon be out of work. The reality star's catchphrase "Good morning! And in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight" has been drilled into him from an early age, as he unintentionally addresses viewers in different time zones across the world.

There's also very subtle staging errors in his false world, including a building constructed on top of a drain as it was never designed to be functional, his dad wearing a camera hidden in a ring to film his own tragic 'death', and cameras placed all around the fictional world of Seahaven Island. His wife Meryl clearly advertises various products directly to camera throughout, while his best friend's dialogue subtly reveals how actors on set are given time off.
