A woman was left totally baffled after "one of the best dates ever" turned into a cruel nightmare when her date dissected her appearance in a cruel text message.

Many loved-up couples will be heading out for date nights on Valentine's Day - or hoping to spark romance with someone new. Dating in the modern world can be hard to navigate; distinguishing between a potential life partner or total time-wasters can be a hard task.

There is nothing more painful than finding someone totally charming but later discovering they are not as nice as you initially thought. An Australian woman, who remains anonymous, was looking forward to heading out for a date with the "gentleman" she had been chatting to online. He initially "seemed lovely" and "ticked all the boxes" for the Melbourne resident but he turned cruel when she refused to go home with him.

After chatting for several days consistently, the woman asked him to meet her online match face-to-face, hoping to spark some romance.

The date went well; the duo had very similar values and lots to chat about. But, things took a turn for the worst when her date asked her to come back to his place for a "coffee" - a universal sign that a date is inviting you in for sex.

After having a great night, the woman decided to decline his offer, she explained on Facebook page Bad Dates of Melbourne. She explained: "He claimed to be 100 percent OK with this and asked me when we could next see each other. I was tempted but ultimately decided to refrain.

"I went home thinking it was one of the best dates I have ever been on." But while she woke up with a smile on her face, her date woke up angry at her rejection.

The woman opened her phone and found a lengthy text message from her date. He cruells told her to take "immediate action" to loose weight and expressed how annoyed he was that he could not "enjoy you physically last night".

The outrageous text read: " "Hey. I think you're lovely and I could definitely see you in my future. However, to get there I feel I need to address something. While you have a beautiful face, you are physically way bigger than any girl I would let myself date. I wold even go as far as saying obese.

"The only reason you are getting a second chance is because your personality is good enough to make me see past this at first. "You will not be seen with me in public again until this is done! My suggestion is personal trainer five to six times weekly and a strict diet.

"Also you need to abandon your old-fashioned views on sexuality. The fact you wouldn't let me enjoy you physically last night was disappointing - I'd expect more from a woman who is single in her late 20s."

Despite shaming his date, the man suggested he was still interested in a future with her. He added: "I sincerely hope you take these suggestions to heart. If not for my sake then for the sake of your own wellbeing. This could be the start of the rest of our lives together."

The post raked in shocked reactions. One individual said: "Literally read this with my mouth wide open. The audacity!" Another added: "I am so sorry this happened to you, I'm sure you are glad he showed his true colours early but understand how hard it must have been."
