'Deranged Donald Trump is no friend of Britain - he is a grave security threat'

Alarm bells are ringing ever louder in Britain and across Europe as unhinged, deranged Donald Trump reveals himself a grave security threat.

The tinpot tyrant giving Vladimir Putin a green light to invade Nato allies would unleash mayhem across the world, not only in the USA if in November he inveigles his way back into the White House.

It’s why fascistic Trump is the issue, not doddery Joe Biden.

Memory failures are preferable to a cynical, calculating enemy of democracy who admires fellow authoritarian white nationalists after his own coup flopped.

Putin’s useful idiot proclaiming he “would encourage” Russia “to do whatever the hell they want” to Nato states spending less than whatever he demands on defence has a vein of trademark hypocrisy, Trump infamously avoiding settling bills, bankrupting contractors, and bragging of dodging taxes.

But Ukraine isn’t alone in trembling, Trump’s so-called instant peace plan likely to be the surrender of territory to Putin with the wannabe return President choking military aid. Zelensky’s aware of this, as is Putin. Ukraine’s leader warned with some justification on a Baltics tour that Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Moldova could be next in the sights of an ex- KGB officer expanding Russia.

Boris Johnson rashly endorsed a Trump triumph as “what the world needs” with a caveat about still supporting Ukraine which is why it’s more important that Rishi Sunak and David Cameron break diplomatic convention to publicly identify Dangerous Don as an unacceptable risk.

Ditto Keir Starmer and a David Lammy who claimed a UK Labour Government could work with Trump. No it couldn’t.

British politicians speaking out may have little impact in the US but silence is complicity.

Biden, despite his slips, is a far better bet for Britain than menacing Trump. We need to tell the truth.
