A three-bedroom house in Liverpool could be yours for just £40,000 - if you can stomach what looks like blood stains on walls.

Located on Orrell Lane, a stone's throw from Liverpool's Anfield stadium, the mid-terrace is on the market, but desperately needs a makeover. With paint peeling off the window sills and the garden full of weeds, whoever buys this house has a lot of work on their hands.

Inside, the lounge is bare with no carpet on the floor and the fireplace has been removed. There is a "do not use" sign on the boiler and red marks splatted on the walls. Unsurprisingly, the kitchen has grubby cabinets and is complete with broken windows.

Upstairs there is the same warning tape over the taps on the sink. But there is also a red handprint on the wall above it. The property is being auctioned off by McHugh & Co. estate agents and is advertised on Rightmove.

The property listing makes no mention of the spatters and marks on the wall, but it does state it is “requiring modernisation”.

One home hunter said: “This house is like a crime scene. With what looks like a bloody handprint on the wall. It's only £40,000 but that still seems expensive.”

It goes under the hammer on February 14 for £40,000 - the current, given guide price. The listing reads: “For sale by online auction, terrace house, three bedrooms. Six-week completion or earlier. Requiring modernisation.”

“Situated on Orrell Lane, close to local shopping and travelling facilities including Walton and Rice Lane Train Stations. Walton Hall Park is also nearby.”
