Legendary singer Gabrielle has made a comeback with brand new music this year after giving a performance on Friday's The Graham Norton Show.

The singer, known for her 90s hit 'Dreams', was asked to perform on The Graham Norton Show to sing 'A Place In Your Heart' from her upcoming album of the same name. Gabrielle, whose real name is Louise Gabrielle Bobb, made a successful comeback in 2000 with her number one hit 'Rise'.

Younger fans might also know her from ITV's The Masked Singer, where she was revealed as Harlequin. The 54 year old mum of two has also starred in Stormzy's music video for 'Mel Made Me Do It'. But why does she always cover one eye?

Gabrielle, the star who always covers her right eye with sunglasses, an eyepatch, a hat or her hair, does so due to a health condition. She was diagnosed with ptosis, a droopy upper eyelid, as a child and underwent surgery which left her with a shortened eyelid.

During her school years, Gabrielle battled depression and had suicidal thoughts. In 2018, she confessed to The Guardian: "The idea of going out and showing my eye is like going out without my knickers on. It just wouldn't happen."

She also shared how her classmates would mock her, calling her names and telling her to stop winking at them because her eyelid would constantly flicker.
