Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has teased that he is ready to return to management - but only if the right opportunity presents itself.

The Norwegian, 50, has kept a low profile since leaving Manchester United back in November 2021. The Old Trafford icon spent just shy of three years at the helm after replacing Jose Mourinho, initially on a caretaker basis, after he was sacked midway through the 2021/22 campaign.

Solskjaer admitted back in May that he could be tempted back to the dugout during an appearance back in Manchester. And the former United striker has now made it clear he is ready to resume his coaching career.

Speaking at an event in New Dehli, Solskjaer confirmed: "I’ve got at least one club job in me. It has to be an interesting one, somewhere, an adventure, somewhere I can be myself.

"No disrespect but after you’ve managed Manchester United for three years it’s like where do you go? I want to feel that pressure again. When you see the games, you miss it."

He continued: "You always want to manage against the best football people in the world. The Premier League is the best league in the world, the most difficult. I had been there for three years.

"Yes, it was a hard job. It’s an extraordinary job, but you’re the face of the biggest and best club in the world. You have to be ready all the time to be scrutinised. So, I enjoyed it but I needed a break after I stepped away."

While Solskjaer has been linked with the odd managerial vacancy since leaving Manchester United, he refused to rule out a return to Old Trafford "in some capacity" during his exit interview.

A potential route back to the club could have opened up courtesy of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani: one of the suitors who attempted to strike a takeover deal with the Glazer family.

It was outlined in May that Sheikh Jassim had plans to bring club legends on board if he was successful in acquiring the club. He was beaten to a deal by Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe, though, who struck an agreement for a minority stake in his boyhood club rather than a full takeover late last year.

The British billionaire is currently waiting for the deal, worth £1.25billion, to be formally ratified after it was announced on Christmas Eve.
