'Mystery opponent' Luis Pineda bounces back from KSI defeat to beat BDave

KSI's former rival Luis Pineda was revealed as the long-awaited mystery opponent for BDave's Misfits Boxing debut in a comical twist from the influencer boxing promotion.

The Mexican journeyman became a comical fans' favourite after his disastrous KO defeat to KSI last summer, with his hilarious attempts at trash talk after stepping in as a late replacement. And he flew out of the traps against inexperienced social media star BDave, who hadn't been told who he was fighting before the bout.

Pineda, whose professional record stands at 2-7 not including the loss to KSI which was unsanctioned, went straight for the victory against BDave and almost had it in the first round. After a tremendous ring walk that started with an ode to the Undertaker from WWE and ended with a Mariachi band, he fed off the electricity of the fans' reaction to the announcement.

The promotion had refused to tell anyone who was competing before the bout, and cleared out media members from the backstage area as he was preparing to make his walk, while draped in a long gown. And fans went wild as he made the walk, revealing himself in front of a graphic declaring his return.

Pineda had been due to face Faze Temperrr before Dillon Danis pulled out of the main event bout with KSI, leaving the Brazilian to step in at late notice. But the drafting in of BDave who played up to the role of a man fighting nobody throughout the week ended up working perfectly for a comical addition to a night of fights.

Unfortunately, from a sporting perspective, the gap between the pair was obscene, with BDave having started training a few months prior. And the American went down to a big shot at the end of the second, barely being saved by the bell after a battering over the previous six minutes.

However, Pineda's fitness ended up undoing him towards the end as he looked much more the fighter that faced KSI in the first fight after gassing out in his pursuit of a knockout. He still comfortably won the three-round bout, but the fairytale knockout couldn't materialise to add to a cherry on top of a brilliant night at the office for the Mexican.
