Fake tanning is one habit that some people will absolutely never miss, particularly as the cold winter months drag on, and the lure of the gently sunkissed look is just too appealing.
However, if you have ever used fake tan, or even helped one of your friends apply it, you will know that it can be a really messy job. Fake tan, while effective, is also seriously staining if you're not incredibly careful, and getting it on your carpets - never mind a cream-coloured one - is most people's worst-case scenario.
However, one woman has discovered a game-changing hack that will help you remove even the most stubborn fake tan stains from your carpets so easily, and once you have this cleaning method in your arsenal, you might be a lot less worried about getting the fake tan out.
The hack, posted by @alicexmayx on TikTok, is seriously simple, and she demonstrated just how easy and effective it is in a short video on her account.
"POV: you spill fake tan on your cream carpet but you have a plan," she wrote on the video, before showing the unsightly dark stain to the camera. Next, she grabbed her St. Moriz self-tan remover and simply sprayed a few pumps of the product directly onto the stained area of the carpet.

The results were seriously impressive, after she had left the foaming solution on the carpet, she showed that the stain was almost entirely invisible, and this cleaning method has clearly worked for her before because she captioned her video "used this method so many times after fake tan disasters on this carpet, it never fails me".
Other users were impressed with the hack, with one commenting: "Wow this is genius," and another writing, "Honestly, girls are the smartest people ever to exist."
A couple of users also pointed out in the comments that they had successfully removed similar stains using micellar water - which is a solvent solution mostly used as a gentle cleanser that effectively removes makeup.
One commenter also asked the creator for tips on how to remove fake tan stains from hard surfaces, "Do you think this would work on toilet seats?" they wrote, "I've tried everything and it won't come off".
Alice swiftly advised them to "use the pink stuff paste" for a hard surface like this - so you've got all your bases covered your next fake tan misstep.
