It has now been revealed that the hotly-anticipated legal drama spin-off, titled Suits: LA, will follow former New York federal prosecutor Ted Black, who has reinvented himself as one of the top lawyers in Los Angeles. According to E! News, the pilot episode will show viewers how Ted's company has reached "crisis point", with him forced to take on a role he's always held in contempt.

In a statement, unveiling new details, NBC revealed: "Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can't help but mix their personal and professional lives."

The statement, given to E! News, continued: "All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved."

The cast has not yet been announced, although speculation is rife that Meghan Markle will make a comeback, following her success portraying Rachel Zane in the original series for the first seven seasons.

This comes a week after The Express reported that contract talks are ongoing between the network and Meghan's powerhouse talent agency WME. The source said: "This is shaping up to be one of the biggest TV deals of the year."

They went on to say that "Meghan is in a commanding position", revealing: "They want her back and they are prepared to pay what it takes to get her." The source then teased to the paper that an official announcement could come next month, with production on the spin-off beginning shortly after.

The paper also revealed that Suits: Los Angeles "will feature a female lead who bears both an uncanny resemblance to Meghan’s previous character Rachel", with this character described as "tailor-made" for Meghan and a "dream role" for the Duchess.
