A mum was disgusted after an Evri delivery driver left her parcel beside a bin in a park.
The package had vanished altogether by the time the mother discovered it had been placed by a bin in Pilrig Park, near Bonnington, Edinburgh. But Evri's own picture confirmation of delivery showed the parcel had been left out in the open on Thursday January 11. Yet, the mum, who asked not to be named, said this was the second time an Evri courier has left a parcel in the same spot - leaving her having to search the park on two separate occasions.
In the latest delivery confirmation, which was shared with Edinburgh Live, a message from Evri states that the parcel 'has been delivered to a secure location at the delivery address', with an attached picture clearly showing it had in fact been left outside of a bin in the public park.
A spokesperson for Evri, which used to be called Hermes, said: "Our ambition is that every customer's experience is a positive one. We have apologised to the customer and offered her a gesture of goodwill. This was an isolated mistake from the courier who has been spoken to."
The mistake reportedly happened because the courier was unfamiliar with the property, as it was dark, and was unsure if they could drive through the park which had a number on the gatepost.

Hermes morphed into Evri in March 2022 in a rebranding move as, it was reported at the time, it wanted to develop a better reputation following criticism amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Chief executive officer of Hermes, Martijn de Lange, gave a statement at the time: "When we first announced our SE+ model in 2019 we committed to continuing to develop our support for our self-employed couriers and we are proud to have been true to that and be leading the industry once again. Our couriers receive guaranteed pay rates, paid holiday and now a pension but have also been able to retain the flexibility that so many treasure, fitting in their deliveries alongside their other, often family, commitments.
"This rebrand follows significant investment and two years of dramatic growth which has resulted in our entire business going through a major transformation programme. It is more than just a name change – it is a statement of intent of our commitment to leading the way in creating responsible delivery experiences for 'Evri one', 'Evri where'."
He added: "It heralds a new culture and an even better way of doing things in an ever-evolving world, building on our achievements and successes."
