Manchester United legend Gary Neville has been confirmed to appear at this year's Kendal Calling music festival in his latest foray outside of football.

Neville, 48, is set to DJ in the Lake District alongside good friend and lead singer of Manchester band The Charlatans, Tim Burgess. The announcement marks another new venture for ex-United captain Neville, who made his debut on BBC staple Dragons' Den last Thursday, with the entrepreneurial programme in its 21st series.

The former England international chose to invest in two businesses as he became the first famous face to join the show as a guest Dragon. Come August, it'll be Neville hoping to impress the crowd when he takes to the stage with Burgess, who's a household name at the festival located in Lowther Deer Park, near Penrith.

Announced on Thursday morning, his name appeared underneath headliners Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Streets, Paulo Nutini and Paul Heaton. It won't be the first time that the Sky Sports pundit has performed with United fan Burgess, though, as Neville took to the guitar in 2015 for a rooftop gig alongside the singer-songwriter at his very own Hotel Football.

Also on the bill are Leeds United-supporting band The Pigeon Detectives and the Lightning Seeds, who could give festival-goers a special rendition of 'Football's Coming Home' should England triumph at Euro 2024 two weeks prior.

Neville's listing won't come as too much of a surprise to those familiar with his post-retirement exploits. Having decided to hang up his boots in 2011, the 48-year-old is currently listed as a director of 56 businesses on Companies House, and he notably co-owns League Two side Salford City alongside his Class of '92 United team-mates.

Neville delved into the world of property in his early 20s while he was still making his name at Old Trafford, and he now boasts a chain of hotels, townhouses and development projects. Some of his most high-profile properties include the Stock Exchange Hotel and the aforementioned Hotel Football.

Neville labelled his recent appearance on Dragons' Den as "one of the great moments" in his career. "Walking through those lift doors is going to be like walking out at Old Trafford as a 19-year-old," the former Red Devils defender beamed.

"Those lift doors are more famous than the Wembley tunnel. To follow in the footsteps of legends in the game like the Bannatynes of this world, the Lavanis, is something that I could never have imagined."
