A woman has shared her "game-changing" trick for making travel coffee mugs look brand new.

Lots of hot drinks lovers have a go-to mug they use most days - on the school run, for work, or out on a cold winter's walk. What's more, a number of chain coffee shops offer free refills to anyone with a reusable cup; they know that the majority of takeaway cups end up in landfill. So it is no surprise that people are jumping on the hype to get the best reusable cup.

However, keeping them clean isn't always easy; coffee rings are hard to remove. But one cleaning expert states that reusable cups, even if just filled with water, can "harbour more bacteria than the average toilet seat".

Cleaning company Tidy Trojans Cleaning Co. has come up with a genius, cheap, and easy hack to help keep our coffee tumblers extra hygienic. Taking to their TikTok page @tidytrojans - seen by over four million people - one woman said: "What do you do when the inside of your tumbler looks like this? You can get this fixed up in no time."

She uses Bar Keepers Friend Soft Cleaner - listed as £9.99 on Amazon - and puts two drops into the cup. Next, she takes a bristle scrubber and spreads the cleaner around the flask. She then washes it out before adding a pump of washing up liquid.

"Don't skip this step as it makes sure it's food safe," she explained. She then scrubs the washing up liquid in the flask before rinsing it with water again and it is left looking brand new. "It is that easy," the TikToker added.

The video raked in 35,000 views and several comments. "Really helped, my tumbler looks brand new," said one individual.

"Great tip," added another. One other described the trick to be like a "magic eraser". Another wrote: "Now I'm heading to clean my tumbler." Another advised: "Soak overnight with vinegar, baking soda and top up with water. Melts it away! Great for coffee pots too!"

"I just fill it with water, add a dishwasher pod, let it sit for about an hour, rinse, and voila," one other commented.
