A woman revealed her elderly neighbour left her mortified when he found something she'd left behind after offering to clean his house.

The woman, who remained unnamed shared that she helps her elderly neighbour out and does his cleaning for him, but was left extremely red-faced when he asked her what she'd accidentally left behind.

The innocence of the question was enough to make anyone giggle over the sheer awkwardness. She revealed the last time she cleaned his house she'd left in a rush and didn't realise she'd dropped a tampon applicator on her way out.

The confession was read aloud on the popular podcast LuAnna, where hosts Anna Williamson and Luisa Zissman share people's hilarious stories - and this one had the pair in hysterics. Anna read the woman's hilarious ordeal out on the podcast, where a snippet was posted on their social media.

"I help elderly neighbours with their cleaning and when I came to see them this week, the elderly gentleman said 'You left something here last week but I'm not sure where it's from'," Anna read out.

She continued: "Going into the kitchen, I expected to find a cloth or a duster, but instead he handed me the plastic applicator from my tampon," as Luisa chimed in: "Oh god." Anna then explained how the elderly man held the tampon up as Luisa said: "The poor innocent old man."

The woman explained that the tampon applicator must have fallen out of the rubbish bag from the toilet when she was in a "mad rush to finish". She further detailed: "I quickly thanked him and tried to take it off him when he said 'I couldn't work it out. What's it from?" To which she told him it was just part of one of her kid's toys and that it must have fallen out of her pocket.

"He didn't look too convinced but luckily he didn't press me any further," she concluded and chimed: "I can't believe he kept it on the kitchen side for a week. Mortified." People were quick to flock to the comments as one fan wrote: "Bless the old fella, he had no idea."
