It's safe to say Greggs has gripped the hearts of the nation and there's nothing better Brit's love than biting into a piping hot iconic sausage roll, a steak bake or even a pizza slice.

You can find a Greggs in pretty much any town or city across the UK and as one of the UK's favourite and biggest fast food chains, you're never far from one either. Now an employee has lifted the lid on the famous bakery - and revealed all the secrets, including the fact that all staff have to have training on one specific menu item.

The employee shared that it's a "pretty easy" job to have, but explained that there is special training all staff have to go through in order to serve the tasty food. There are specific ways the staff have to put the food together, including the popular breakfast baps - such as putting the sauce on before adding the filling, as The Sun reported.

The employee shared anonymously the secrets of Greggs, and that each member of staff has to have special training on how to make the breakfast items. By putting the sauce on first, the worker shared that this will leave you with "a nicely sauced roll without any extra sauce flying around" and is the Greggs way to do it. They also shared that the sausage rolls are the most popular menu item - which may come as no surprise. And even claimed that they can sell out "within one to two minutes" and are most commonly bought in "larger amounts".

The second most popular item is a Steak Bake which can sell out "pretty fast" too according to the Greggs worker. If you want to make sure your food is as fresh as it can be, it's recommended that you time your visit accordingly they added and said: "The temperature of the bakes can depend on the time."

If you want a hot and freshly baked treat, it seems as if midday is your best bet. They revealed: "Usually, midday is when we bake the most and we have hot bakes ready more often so that's a good time to get hot ones. But in the evening we don't really cook that much because it's not busy so most of them won't be as warm."
