It's definitely no secret that the Princess of Wales is incredibly sporty, with Kate's competitive streak coming out pretty much on any occasion she has the opportunity to take part in a sports or fitness-based activity whilst on a royal engagement.

Mike Tindall - who is married to Prince William's cousin Zara - has previously revealed that he even nicknamed her the 'engine' because of her impressive levels of physical fitness and explained one of the methods she uses to stay so healthy, although it is reported that Kate takes part in a wide array of sports in her spare time.

Tindall called his cousin-in-law and the future Queen an "engine" during an appearance on the House of Rugby podcast a few years ago - according to Hello magazine - when he was asked who he would select if he was putting together his ideal team. "I've got the Duchess of Cambridge on one wing because she loves running, she can run all day. Engine!" He said at the time, adding that he would also recruit Harry and William while making the late Queen captain - of course.

He also revealed that Kate isn't the only keen runner in her family, with William also impressively good at it. "Willy's quick. I've raced him, he's quick, he has really fast leg speed."

This is not the only time that Tindall has revealed personal details about the future King and Queen during appearances on podcasts - he recently admitted that he nicknamed William "One Pint Willy" because, despite the Prince's stamina on the running track, he doesn't quite have the same prowess when it comes to sinking alcoholic drinks.

The admission came on Rob Burrow's podcast and his wife Zara was heard gasping after he let the nickname slip and saying "You're in so much trouble" in response to her husband's comments and Mike jokingly replied: "Oh my god. It's out there now. Sorry sir."

The former England player has also revealed that despite Kate's focus on staying fit, her competitiveness extends away from sports and into any arena where she gets to go head-to-head with someone else: even in drinking games. When William and Kate appeared on Mike's podcast - The Good The Bad and The Rugby - he joked with Kate about her competitive streak: "I'm not going to say you're uber competitive," before giving her a cheeky nod.

Kate joked in response that she isn't "competitive at all," to which Mike replied: "I've seen her play beer pong!"
