Jon Jones issues lengthy response to Tom Aspinall's UFC fight demand

Jon Jones has slammed fellow UFC champion Tom Aspinall for repeatedly demanding a unification fight.

Jones currently holds the undisputed UFC heavyweight title following his first-round win against Ciryl Gane last year whilst Aspinall won the interim belt last November by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich in 69-seconds. Aspinall has been calling for a fight against Jones but the UFC plans to book Stipe Miocic as the undisputed champion's next challenger.

"Tom, you talking about someone’s ego running wild is one of the most hypocritical things ever. You literally haven’t kept my balls out of your mouth since you won that imaginary championship. Both you and Serge have zero championships between your name. It’s funny that you actually walk around feeling like the world champion," Jones wrote to Aspinall.

"Especially when the actual champion is undefeated, and had a flawless last performance. Literally didn’t get hit my last fight. My stipe fight was booked well before yours came along, you weren’t even the back up fighter.. Trust me you’re the one who is coming around here with the inflated ego and entitlement.

Miocic lost the heavyweight belt when he was brutally knocked out by Francis Ngannou in his last fight almost three years ago. Jones has told Aspinall that fighting him does little for his legacy and he wants to fulfil his fight with Miocic having both already agreed to "massive contracts".

"That intern championship means absolutely nothing if you seriously haven’t noticed yet. All your fight did at Madison Square Garden was confused the fans. Good thing the UFC and it’s two long time standing champions are all on the same page. The UFC, Stipe and I have unfinished business, it’s really just that simple," Jones added.

"What I refuse to do is be like a lot of these other fighters who stuck around too long. That just won’t happen. Your boy Bones Jones over here, despite what a lot of people may like to think. I've set myself up pretty well in life. I want Stipe for my résumé, outside of that, I need nothing else from this sport. I came, I saw, and I conquered. Facts.

"It’s a wild world we live in! People can be so quick to try to replace you, throw you away, discredit your work. That’s the best thing about them stats or just being able to see the fruits of your labor. Be an absolute savage at what you do, at whatever capacity that may be. Let the work speak for itself, be undeniable in this world ladies and gentlemen. Be absolutely undeniable."
