Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been embarking on "faux royal engagements" say royal experts.

The couple has been spotted multiple times, attending musical concerts and hockey games in an attempt to "maintain their royal aesthetic" and are even "insisting that you refer to them as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex," reports claim. Royal expert Kinsley Schofield said: "Engaged royal watchers would likely categorise Harry and Meghan as celebrities or reality stars.

"But perception is reality and they are royal to the people that they are trying to impress," she added, before branding Harry's Vancouver Canucks game appearance as a "faux engagement" as the couple try to "maintain the perception of royalty".

Kinsley likened their craft to Sarah Ferguson, who has made many television appearances and interviews since divorcing Prince Andrew. She explained: "Their path has been very similar to Sarah, Duchess of York.

"Sarah came to America to magnify her celebrity. To make money off her association with the royals. Sarah partnered with Oprah Winfrey several times, produced Hollywood films, wrote books, and even appeared as a product pusher on one of the home shopping networks," she told the Daily Express US.

Last month, it was reported that Harry and Meghan were still using their "Sussex Royal" website, despite making a big promise after stepping back from the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess left The Firm in 2020 and agreed to stop using the "Sussex Royal" title "in any territory" after Spring 2020.

However, their royal website remains live as well as their Sussex Royal Instagram account which has racked up more than 9 million followers. Their website, sussexroyal.com, includes a page called "Serving the Monarchy". This page hasn't been updated to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth last September.

The website does include a statement from Meghan and Harry which was made in January 2020 as they announced their plans to step back as senior members of the Royal Family. The statement said they hoped to become "financially independent" while continuing to support the monarchy.

There is no mention of Harry's father King Charles' Coronation. The Sussexes Instagram page is also still live, although the last post was made three years ago. In their last post, the couple thanked fans for their support, inspiration and "the shared commitment to the good in the world".
