Channel 4 star Jody Bunting claims police asked if he tried to kill colleague because he 'fancied' her
The former Big Breakfast presenter, who appeared on the show between 2001 and 2002 is currently on police bail after being arrested for attempted murder and wounding with intent. He was met by police at Luton Airport moments after touching down from a holiday in Morocco on November 2.
Bunting, 45, has denied allegations that he attempted to murder a colleague with a piece of chocolate. A member of staff at Mickleover Court Hotel Leisure Club was rushed to intensive care at Royal Derby Hospital on October 29 after suffering an allergic reaction to chocolate. Bunting is accused of planting the chocolate on purpose. But Jody had taken the chocolate in while Kimberley had been signed off work.

Ms Hoskins' allergy is said to have been well-known in the workplace (LinkedIn)In a new interview, he claims interviewing officers from Derbyshire Police asked if he fancied his colleague, Kimberley Hoskins. Bunting had left a half-eaten bar of Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut in a staff room at his workplace at the health retreat. Ms Hoskins suffers from a life-threatening allergy to cocoa and was subsequently administered an EpiPen shot to relieve her symptoms after breathing in the fumes before spending five days in intensive care.
"I was no commenting to everything," he told the MailOnline. He added: "Then they asked me this question, 'Did you do it because you secretly fancied Kimberley?' I laughed out loud. At that point, my solicitor told them to stop that line of questioning. It was just unbelievable.

"Everybody knows that I am gay in my area. I wear pink T-shirts everywhere, even on my social media, it is not like I hide it or anything, Kimberley would have laughed out loud at them making that accusation." He claimed that Kimberley had previously been taken to A&E after a child attending a swimming glass took chocolate into the area. "This whole procedure is actually quite normal for Kimberley," he said.
Jody claims that police officers are claiming that he purposely took the chocolate into the workplace having known about Kimberley's severe allergy and previous reactions. In a TikTok video shared on May 22, 2022, Kimberley publicly referenced her allergy and captioned an upload: "Being THAT person and the reason no one can eat chocolate on the place," before writing "#anaphylaxis."
Since his arrest, Jody has been released on police bail on conditions that he doesn't contact his colleague, the member of staff who saw him take the chocolate to work or attend Mickleover Court. Speaking previously to Derbyshire Live, the fitness instructor said: "When I tell people it's over a piece of chocolate, they actually laugh out loud, which is even more amusing because of my slimming work and past."
In a statement given to The Mirror, Derbyshire Police said of his arrest: "A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and wounding with intent on 2 November. He has been bailed as investigations continue. The arrest relates to an incident at the Mickleover Court Hotel in Derby between 22 and 29 October 2023."
