Having a real Christmas tree is a must for many, but after one woman's horror discovery, you might think twice about getting one.

Arachnophobes beware, because a new level of fear is about to be unlocked. When Violet bought a real Christmas tree to display in her house, she couldn't imagine the horror that would transpire when she came to take it down.

When Christmas was over and it was time to pack the decorations away, Violet looked down at her hand and realised there was a spider on it. Horrifyingly, she looked into the tree and realised they were everywhere.

Violet took to TikTok to share her reaction after discovering the baby spider's nest. As an arachnophobe, Violet was clearly distressed and in tears over the shocking realisation that they were everywhere.

In the video, Violet, who is clearly shook-up, could he heard saying: "Look at the f****ng state of me. This is a nightmare. I've gone to take the Christmas tree down and the whole Christmas tree is covered in spiders. Baby spiders everywhere. I don't know what to do."

Violet then filmed the tree, but said she didn't want to go too close as she felt like they were "crawling all over" her. She added that they were "literally everywhere," and the distressed content creator didn't know what to do.

Many were horrified at Violet's discovery, with one person saying: "This reaction is so valid. Spiders are so scary," and another adding: "I'd cry my eyes out too, I have a genuine phobia of spiders, I'm absolutely terrified of just one let alone loads, I couldn't do it, I'd be out so fast."

Violet responded to people claiming they couldn't see the spiders with another video, where she explained: "Yes, I had a meltdown about baby spiders because I am petrified. My phobia of spiders isn't a joke. I genuinely am petrified.

"So I was taking the baubles off the tree. I was yanking them off. I couldn't even be ar**d to even do it, and then I realised 'what is that on me?'. It was a spider. I had a panic attack."

She then explained that she had filmed her reaction to send to her friends, not for TikTok originally, but then realised it was quite a funny video. Luckily, Violet's boyfriend eventually came home and disposed of the tree.

If you spot walnut-sized lumps on the branches of your Christmas tree, you'll want to bin the fir instantly, as they are usually egg sacs that could be carrying between 100 and 200 praying mantis.

The lumps are usually found on the end of branches and your toasty living room is the prime environment for the critters to hatch. Experts in Norwegian trees told The Bristol Post that the clumps are rare in the UK, but have been discovered - along with lice, mites, moths and spiders.

These critters are looking to find a nice spot inside a Christmas tree to hibernate, but then wake up thinking it's spring because of the warm temperatures inside the home.
