True Coca-Cola fans will know that McDonald's Coke tastes miles better than a shop-bought can, and McDonald's has finally explained the logic behind it.

Many people have conspired for years as to why it tastes so good, and now McDonald's has given us the answer we've all been waiting for. When tucking into your Big Mac, there's nothing nicer than taking a sip of a McDonald's Coke. And even though the recipe has been kept a secret, McDonald's is open about how they get theirs to taste so good and they have revealed it's all down to the way they mix it.

The fast food chain released a statement and shared why it's so delicious, and although they claim they stick to the guidelines set by Coca-Cola, it's down to being mixed in a unique way. "There are many reasons the Coca-Cola tastes so great at McDonald's. We simply follow the guidelines set by Coca-Cola and take steps to ensure that we serve a high-quality fountain beverage," the statement read.

"The water and Coca-Cola syrup, the two main components, are shipped to McDonald's chains separately and mixed afterwards, unlike the drinks you find on shop shelves. The water and Coca-Cola syrup are pre-chilled before entering our fountain dispensers with the ratio of syrup set to allow for ice to melt."

Another reason it tastes so good is due to the fountain system being so cold. This is to make sure the drink is "always refreshing" and that it meets a "gold standard". The chain also makes sure the water is filtered before it enters the dispensers. Another secret trick they use is down to the straws. McDonald's says that using a wider straw means more of the delicious taste hits our senses. The statement explained: "It's slightly wider than a typical straw so all that Coke taste can hit your taste buds."

So it's not just our imaginations making us think it's better than any shop-bought Coke. Even a McDonald's employee also vouched that the straws are specifically designed for maximum taste too. Taking to TikTok, the user, who goes by the name @evilglitterqueen, said the straws are wider than usual, as she entered the worldwide discussion of how much better a Maccies coke is.
