Kerry Katona has shared how she went from a size 16 to a size 8 in just one year.

The mum-of-five revealed that she lost over 3st last year, boosting her confidence and improving her mental health. She admitted that her lifestyle change was mainly for the benefits it brought to her mental health. Kerry confessed she became in a rut of "self-loathing and emotional eating."

She felt that she needed to make changes to feel better about herself. The former Atomic Kitten star, who is now a healthy 9st 13lb, has been incorporating yoga, weight training and cardio workouts into her daily routine. Despite her history of yo-yo dieting, Kerry has taken a more sensible approach this time, combining calorie counting with exercise.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, Kerry explained she lost over three stone through counting calories, exercising and doing MFIT workouts, which is a fitness platform she shares with fiancé Ryan Mahoney. She also does yoga every morning. Kerry added: "Losing the weight is great, but I want to look toned now."

The media personality said she has been watching what she eats and now has smaller portions. She decided to give up "lots of carbs and cut out bread". Kerry said: "If I want a snack, then I have tuna and rice with pesto small portions like that. Before because I wasn't exercising, I would just be snacking on carbs and rubbish food."

She insisted she still has "normal food" but just in smaller portions. Kerry was inspired to make the transformation after getting into a rut. She explained it happened when she moved to Cheshire from Sussex in 2021. The singer confessed: "I got triggered because I was thinking, 'Oh God, this is where I used to do drugs' and 'This is where paparazzi would get me back in the day', so it was a lot."

She also lost her normal routine but has since gained it back and quit smoking. Kerry said her weight had started to affect her mood and was "projecting it onto other people". She insisted she doesn't lose weight for anyone but herself and it has made her feel so much more confident. The Atomic Kitten star has said her family have seen a difference in her as she is more positive about herself.

The weight loss has even changed how Kerry dresses as she says she is now making an effort "rather than being frumpy." She has also been treating herself to "nice underwear sets" for her adult content. When asked how she plans to maintain her weight loss in the long term, Kerry admitted she needs to stick with what she's been doing and keep going. She insisted: "I will never go back to where I was with my weight before."
