Arsenal are in the midst of a second consecutive title race as the January transfer window arrives.

The Gunners sit second in the Premier League standings and would seize top spot heading into New Year should they beat London rivals Fulham on Sunday. While it has been a busy period on the pitch, the same will be true over the next month as the window opens.

Heading into the window, Arsenal have already been linked with a number of stars, while a host of current players could bid farewell to the Emirates. Take a look at some of the best rumours to come out of North London over the past 24 hours:

Gunners eye fresh Vlahovic move

A long-term Arsenal transfer target, Dusan Vlahovic could potentially be on his way to the Emirates Stadium after all. According to reports, the Gunners are once again interested in the Serbian frontman.

As per TVPlay via football365, Mikel Arteta has identified Vlahovic as the ‘profile’ to bolster his forward line. However, Vlahovic’s asking price could prove a problem. It is suggested that Juventus technical director Cristiano Giuntoli wants to receive around €60m (£52m) for the striker.

However, Arsenal would only be willing to pay €40m (£35m). Arsenal were interested in Vlahovic during his time at former club Fiorentina, while he eventually elected to move to Juventus.

Talks on for Patino and Kean swap

Sticking with Juventus, a swap deal involving Arsenal wonderkid Charlie Patino and the Italian club’s striker Moise Kean could potentially be an option this January. According to Tuttosport, the Turin giants want to sign the midfielder, who is currently in the midst of a loan spell with Championship side Swansea.

It is suggested that Giuntoli has made a recent trip to London to hold talks over a potential move. Arsenal are said to want to receive around €20m (£17.3m) for the midfielder.

Juventus are not willing to pay that and could offer Kean in part-exchange. Kean, 23, is currently in the middle of his second spell with Juve after returning from Everton.

Gunners hit with Luiz blow

Away from Turin, it appears that Arsenal are unlikely to sign another long-term target. The Gunners have admired Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz for an extended period but Arsenal have been hit with a double blow.

According to reports in Spain, Barcelona are now interested in signing him and they have identified him as a successor for Sergio Busquets. However, Aston Villa are not keen on selling.

It is said that they could demand around €100m (£86.9m) for the Brazilian, while Barca would only be willing to spend €60million (£52.1m). Read the full story here
