EastEnders fans have spotted an apparent plot hole in the drama filled Christmas Day episode of the soap.
There was plenty of tension in the festive episode of the long-running BBC show - as viewers finally discovered who was killed in the Queen Vic, and by whom, after a flash forward teased the scene way back in February. But before the climactic showdown took place, there was further drama in Albert Square as Nish Panesar, played by Navin Chowdhry, returned home from jail to confront his wife Suki, played by Balvinder Sopal.
Tension was high between the two as Nish believed his wife to be cheating on him - and he had been arrested when police believed he had killed someone. Nish seemed vengeful when he returned home on Christmas Day and locked Suki and their family in their house together while they were sat down for dinner.
Anxious Suki tried to escape, only to find the door was locked. She then fled into the kitchen, where Nish squared up to her. However, she was saved by her son Ravi, played by Aaron Thiara, and she had the chance to flee.
Ravi held his father back while Suki made her escape - but was then overpowered by Nish as he picked up a rolling pin and smacked Ravi over the head with it, knocking the lad unconscious. While the dramatic scenes played out, soap fans questioned why Suki and Nish’s other children, Kheerat, played by Jaz Singh Deol, Jags, played by Amar Adatia, Ash, played by Gurlaine Kaur Garcha and Vinny, played by Shiv Jalota, didn't intervene in the violence.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessTaking to X/Twitter, one viewer asked: "So what the rest of the family are just eating dinner whilst Ravi and Nish are tearing it up in the kitchen??" And another joked: "Still thinking about how Priya, Avani, Vinny and Nugget were stuffing their faces whilst Nish and Ravi were killing each other in the kitchen.”
However, other fans felt there was a valid reason the other family members didn’t appear in the kitchen, with one suggesting: "Homes clearly soundproofed. Though seriously, I had been in that kind of situation and we were just too scared to get involved."
Further drama unfolded as Suki later told Nish to meet her in the Queen Vic pub after she had chatted to Linda Carter, played by Kellie Bright, Kathy Beale, played by Gillian Taylforth, Stacey Slater, played by Lacey Turner, Denise Fox, played by Diane Parish and Sharon Watts, played by Letitia Dean - who had all convinced her to tell Nish she was leaving him for Eve Unwin, played by Heather Peace. Possessive Nish didn’t take the news well, and started to attack Suki - prompting Denise to smash a bottle of champagne over his head, seemingly killing him.
Keanu Taylor, played by Danny Walters, then arrived at the scene and accused Sharon of killing Nish. A second fight broke out - and Linda plunged a carving fork into Keanu’s back and he died just as Suki succeeded in reviving Nish.
The dramatic scenes were a hit with EastEnders fans, with one taking to X/Twitter to commented: “Probably the best ever episode! It was that good. But the highlight has been the comments on X from people saying it was predictable and obvious... the same people who have been guessing the outcome wrong for months. Just admit they pulled off a classic EastEnders twist!”
